Last week, I learned about new research being conducted by D. Martin Watterson, PhD, the John G. Searle Professor of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Feinberg. Working in collaboration with teams from Columbia University Medical Center and the University of Kentucky, Dr. Watterson has developed small, experimental drug-like molecules that were able to halt memory loss and fix damaged communication among brain cells in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease. Reading about research conducted at the medical_school is always fascinating to me and a constant reminder of how important it is to support the great mission of our school: to improve the health of people. By conducting research into future cures and educating future Northwestern physicians and scientists, the faculty at Feinberg are making a difference--my colleagues and I are proud to do what we can to support them.
